Signals and momentum
Seven public signals per startup, rolled into a 0–100 momentum score that is never a black box.
Signals tell you which startups are moving before they tell you themselves. Each startup has a Signals card in its detail drawer and a Momentum column on the Sourcing list. Like enrichment, every signal carries a value, a source, a freshness date and a confidence level.

The seven signals
| Signal | What it measures | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Hiring velocity | Open roles and the 90-day change; first sales or go-to-market hires are flagged | Company careers pages and public job boards |
| GitHub traction | Star velocity, contributors, release cadence | Public GitHub data; only for developer-tool and data-infrastructure companies |
| Product launches | Launches, changelogs, major versions | Product launch sites and RSS feeds |
| Filing signals | Form D filings and patents | Public filings; US companies only |
| Search interest | Brand-query trend over 12 weeks | Public search-trend data; capped at Medium confidence, directional only |
| Fundraise likelihood | Whether a raise is likely soon | Computed by Investryx, not fetched — see below |
| Network heat | Your team’s touchpoints with the company in the last 30 days | Your own logged interactions; metadata only |
A signal row appears only when its source has data for that company. New companies show “No signals collected yet — they appear within a day of adding a company.” Signals refresh daily.
Fundraise likelihood
This one is derived, so its chip reads Derived rather than naming a source. Investryx compares the months since the last known round (from recorded portfolio rounds, funding research or the pipeline deal) with a typical 18–24 month seed runway. You see a short label with its reasoning, for example “Likely raising · est. Q4 2026 — Seed closed 19 mo ago · typical runway 18–24 mo”, “Watch · est. H1 2027”, “Not raising soon”, or “May raise a bridge” when hiring has slowed. Companies without a priced round read “Too early to model”.
Network heat
Shown in the dark green style used for relationship intelligence. It counts your team’s meetings, calls and emails with the company in the last 30 days and names the most recent one — for example “3 team touchpoints this month — met the founder Sep 12 · metadata only”. Message bodies are never read.
The momentum score
Momentum rolls the signals into a single 0–100 number so you can sort a long list. The weights are fixed:
- Hiring velocity 0.35
- Fundraise timing 0.25
- Product launches 0.20
- GitHub traction 0.15 (when present)
- Filing signals 0.05
Search interest and network heat are deliberately excluded from the score. When a signal is missing, the remaining weights are renormalised. Colour bands: 70 and above green, 45–69 neutral, below 45 amber. Companies with no data show ”—” and sort last.
The score is never a black box. On Sourcing, select the momentum value in a row to open the Momentum breakdown popover, which lists the top three contributing signals with their current reading and trend arrow. The Signals card in the drawer shows the same number with a trend arrow beside its title.
Where signals surface
- Sourcing list — Momentum column; select the header to sort by it.
- Company drawer — Signals card below the Overview (startups only).
- Dashboard and notifications — a company crossing a threshold is posted to the activity feed and the notification bell under the Signals kind.
