Sync Google Contacts
Connect your own Google account, review and select the people to share, and keep the workspace Network in sync.
Google Contacts sync brings the people you already know into the shared Network. Each team member connects their own Google account, chooses exactly which contacts to share, and Investryx keeps them in sync from then on. Nothing is imported until you confirm the list.
Before you connect
- Imported contacts are shared with your team. Everything you import becomes part of the workspace Network and is visible to every member who can open Contacts. Personal contacts — family, friends, your dentist — do not belong there: untick them on the review screen, or connect your work account instead.
- Use your company account. If you connect a personal address (gmail.com, icloud.com and similar), the review screen says so and offers Switch account.
- Read-only. Investryx asks Google for read-only access to your contacts and “Other contacts” (people you emailed but never saved), plus your email address to label the connection. Calendar access is optional and read-only (a switch in the same dialog); see Connecting Google. Email is never requested.
Connect and review
- Open Settings → Integrations (every member sees their own card) or Contacts → Bulk Import → Sync with Google Contacts, and select Connect.
- Approve access at Google. You come back to the review screen with everything Google returned.
- Everything with an email address starts ticked. Use the tools to decide quickly:
- Search by name, email, company or domain (“acme”, “@northwind”, “Tanaka”).
- Filters: Google label, Saved vs Other contacts, New vs Already in workspace, Personal email, Has company.
- Sort by name, company, email domain or recently updated; Group by company shows one collapsible group per email domain with a group checkbox.
- Select all shown / Untick all shown act on the filtered list — for example filter Personal email and untick all shown in one click.
- Keyboard: arrow keys move, space toggles, shift-click selects a range.
- Each row shows the name, every email address, company and title, phone, Google labels, whether the person is New or Already in workspace, and when Google last updated the record. People without an email address cannot be imported (email is the dedupe key) and are counted as skipped.
- Select Import N contacts. Imports run in batches with a progress bar and end with a summary: imported, matched contacts you already had, failed.
Unticked rows are remembered as exclusions: they never come back through a later sync, and reopening the review shows the same choices. Cancel keeps the connection and imports nothing.
What gets created
- A contact with name, primary email, title, phone and LinkedIn, owned by you, in the firm’s default language. If the person already exists (same email — from a CSV, a colleague’s sync or a hand-entered record), the import fills blank fields and adds you as someone who knows them; it never overwrites what is there.
- An organisation in the Network for each business email domain that is new to the workspace, named from Google’s company field or the domain, ready for enrichment to classify. Consumer domains never create organisations.
- Every synced contact carries a small Google mark in the Contacts list and a “Synced from Google Contacts by … · date” line in the drawer, with a link to open the person in Google Contacts. The Synced from Google filter shows only these.
Keeping in sync
- Investryx checks each connected account once a day with Google’s incremental sync, and Sync now on the card runs it on demand.
- Changed contacts fill blanks on the existing record. Contacts deleted in Google are flagged as “Removed in Google” but stay in the workspace.
- New people wait in a review queue by default: a notification and a banner on Contacts say how many are waiting, and Review new opens the same review screen for just those rows. Turn on Import new contacts automatically under Sync settings to skip the queue.
- Sync settings also let you include or exclude Other contacts and limit future syncs to specific Google labels.
Disconnecting
Disconnect on the Integrations card revokes Investryx’s access at Google and deletes the stored connection. Contacts already imported stay in the workspace; calendar access is removed with the connection. Deactivating a member disconnects their account automatically. Owners and Admins see who on the team has connected an account — the account address and counts only, never anyone else’s contacts list.
