Import companies and contacts

Bring existing contacts in from a CSV file, and understand how companies are created alongside them.

Most firms arrive with a spreadsheet of people. Investryx imports contacts from a CSV file and creates the companies they belong to at the same time, so you do not have to enter organisations twice.

Import contacts from a CSV

  1. Open Contacts.
  2. Select Bulk Import, then Import CSV.
  3. Choose a .csv file. The first row must be a header row.
  4. When the import finishes, a confirmation reads “Imported N contacts”, followed by “M skipped” if any rows were left out.

Columns

ColumnRequiredNotes
nameYesFull name.
emailYesOne address per row. Rows with a missing or malformed address are skipped.
companyNoMatched to an existing organisation by name or by the email domain; created if none matches.
titleNoRole or job title.
typeNoOne of Founder, Co-investor, Angel, Advisor, LP, Other. Anything else becomes Other.
languageNoEnglish, Japanese or Chinese. Defaults to English. Drives the language of LP notification emails.

Column names are matched case-insensitively. A contact whose email already exists in your workspace is skipped rather than duplicated, so re-importing a corrected file is safe.

Companies created during an import are added to your Network with the category Other. Open each record and run Enrich to fill in the rest.

Companies

There is no separate bulk import for companies. You add them one at a time, and each route needs only a name and a website:

  • Sourcing → Add company creates a startup.
  • Network → Add company creates any other kind of organisation.
  • Pipeline → New deal → Create new company creates a startup and a deal in one step.
  • Add contact → Company → Create new company creates the organisation while you are adding a person.

If you have a large company list to bring in, send it to us through the contact form and we will help.

Syncing from Google

The Bulk Import menu also lists Sync with Google Contacts, which connects your own Google account and lets you review the list before anything is imported (see Sync Google Contacts). There is no Outlook sync: if your firm runs on Microsoft 365, export your contacts from Outlook as a CSV file (People → Manage → Export contacts) and use Import CSV; the same applies to LinkedIn exports and spreadsheets.

Export

Select one or more rows on Contacts and choose Export from the inline selection bar to download them as contacts.csv.
