Guarded actions

Why LP-facing and irreversible actions never run from chat, and what the agent does instead.

Some actions reach your investors: publishing a report set, sending them notification emails. One cannot be undone: deleting a company. The agent treats these as guarded. It will never perform them from the chat, even after you say yes. Instead it opens the app’s real confirm dialog and leaves the decision there.

What is guarded

Four requests are guarded:

RequestButton on the cardWhat opens
Publish a report setReview & publish…The publish review: recipients and the notification email
Remind LPs who have not opened a documentReview & remind…The document’s access log on the Not opened tab, where you choose who to remind
Email LPs a capital-call or distribution noticeReview & send…The notice review for that call or distribution: recipients, language and note
Delete a companyReview & delete…The app’s delete confirmation

The first three are LP-facing and are offered to owners and admins only. Publishing makes documents visible in the LP portal and can email every recipient, so it always goes through the publish review. The example below follows a publish request; the other three work the same way.

What a guarded card looks like

When you ask “Publish the 2026 Q4 report set”, the agent replies with the facts it can see (“2026 Q4 is in Draft with 3 documents and 8 recipients”) and states the rule: publishing is LP-facing, so it will not do it directly. The card below has:

  • A title such as “Publish 2026 Q4 report set” with the note “Needs your review · recipients & notification email”.
  • A single amber button: Review & publish…

There is no Apply button on a guarded card.

What happens when you click it

  1. The card’s status becomes In review.
  2. The app navigates to LP Reporting with the set expanded and opens the publish review, the same dialog you get from the status dropdown.
  3. In the review you check the recipients, choose whether to notify them by email, pick languages, add an optional note and click Publish & email N LPs or Publish. See Publish and notification email.
  4. The agent posts: “I opened the publish review for 2026 Q4 — you confirm recipients and the notification email there. I never publish LP-facing material myself.”

If you close the review without publishing, nothing has changed. The card stays in review; ask again to get a fresh one.

For the other guarded requests the agent says the same in its own words, for example “I opened the access log for Q4 report.pdf on Not opened — you choose who to remind there. I never email LPs myself.” Reminders keep their own rule in the app: at most one per document per contact every 48 hours.

Why it works this way

The same principle applies everywhere in Investryx: AI drafts, humans finalise. Deal memos say “review before finalizing”; the notification email is drafted for your review; publishing is a human click in the app. The guard is enforced on the server, not just in the interface, so a guarded card cannot be applied by any client.

The agent checks first

  • If a report set is already Published, the agent says so with the publish date and offers no card.
  • If a set is still a draft, nobody can have opened it, so no reminder card is offered.
  • A company that is in your portfolio cannot be deleted; the card says so, and the app’s dialog explains why.

Guarded cards and open-in-app cards

Both open the app instead of applying from chat. Guarded cards are for what LPs receive and for deletion: the agent enters nothing, and you decide in the app’s confirm dialog. Open-in-app cards are for terms and money, such as recording an investment or issuing a capital call: the agent fills in the dialog and you review and save it. See Action cards.
